Hearth is a browser extension that replaces your new tab page with a customizable grid of link cards. This policy explains what data Hearth accesses and why. In short: Hearth does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data to the developer or to any third party. Everything you create stays in your own browser.
Your cards, groups, notes, and settings are saved using your browser's own
extension storage (chrome.storage). If your browser is signed in
and syncing, this data may sync to your other signed-in browsers through your
browser vendor (Google or Mozilla) — never through Hearth. The developer has
no access to it.
If enabled, Hearth reads your signed-in profile's email address on your device
(via chrome.identity.getProfileUserInfo) only to suggest a first
name for the greeting (for example, "Good morning, Alex"). The email is used
locally, is never stored by Hearth, and is never transmitted anywhere. You can
turn this off, or type any name, in the extension's options page.
To display website icons on your cards, your browser requests favicons from
icons.duckduckgo.com. If you choose the optional "Daily photo"
background, your browser requests an image from picsum.photos.
These requests are made by your browser to render the page; as with any web
request, the third party may receive standard information such as your IP
address and the specific icon or image requested, under their own privacy
policies. Hearth sends no personal data, browsing history, or account
information to these services.
